Pablo Picasso, Attributed: Femme Endormie (Two Ink
Pablo Picasso (Spanish, 1881-1973) Attributed: Femme Endormie (Two Ink Sketches of Women Sleeping), 1952. Two sketches in hand drawn ink with ink/ watercolor wash. Both items are mounted to paper with hand made marbling verso. Both signed and dated (15.8.52. IV) and (14.8.52. V). In their original frames.
These two ink drawings with color washes that were mistaken by the original owners as lithographs that were further enhanced by hand. Research indicates that these are not lithographs, but original drawings. They remain in their original frames as purchased by the present owner and contains the tape-mounted typed explanation in French dated October 14th 1963.
Picasso was the most dominant and influential artist of the first half of the twentieth century. Associated most of all with pioneering Cubism, alongside Georges Braque, he also invented collage and made major contributions to Symbolism and Surrealism.

Left picture 11x13.5 framed; 7x8.5 inches paper. Right picture 13.5x10.75 framed; 8.25x7 inches paper.

Private collection Germany, 1963; acquired in a private sale by the current owner, a California Gentleman.

The first/ left item is in good condition with occasional foxing; the second/right item has a hole in the middle after the paper became brittle when it was poorly mounted.
