WARREN G. HARDING
(1865 - 1923) Twenty-ninth President of the United States. Rare early partly-printed D.S. as publisher of the 'Marion Star' newspaper, 1p. oblong 8vo., Marion County, OH, Oct. 10, 1896, a 'proof of publication' in which he attests that a printed notice was published in the newspaper for three weeks. Harding signs 'W.H. Harding' twice in black ink. Fine. Sold with an engraving. Harding bought the 'Marion Star' newspaper in 1884, five years before his successful bid for the Ohio state Senate, and remained in ownership of the paper throughout his presidency and up until his death.
