תגיות:

WILLIAM HENRY HARRISON
(1773 - 1841) Ninth President of the United States, military hero at Tippecanoe Creek and against Tecumseh, died after one month in office. Good content A.D.S. as an aide de camp, 1p. 7.5 x 2.75 in., Greeneville, July 29, 1795, in full: 'The Commissary will issue for the Putawatimiis [sic, Potawatami Indians] sixty three pounds of flour of flour and beef'. Near fine. Harrison was a signatory of the Treaty of Greenville (1795) as witness to Gen. Anthony Wayne, the principal negotiator for the U.S. Under the terms of the treaty, a coalition of Indians ceded a portion of their lands to the federal government, opening two-thirds of Ohio to settlement. This payment was part of that settlement.
