1917 BOOK AKSENOV EKSTER ILLUSTRATION ON PICASSO
A 1917 Russian Book, Pikasso I Okrestnosti, Picasso and Environs. Illustrated by Alexandra Exter, 1882-1949, Russian French avant-garde artist, designer, one of the founders of the Art Deco style. Text by Ivan Aksenov, 1883-1935, was associated with the Constructivists and worked in the theatre of Vsevolod Meyerhold, critic, poet, and translator, he was an outstanding representative of the genre crossing and internationalist spirit of Russian avant-garde art. Printed in Moscow: Tsentrifuga, 1917, one of 1000 copies. The book includes twelve plates reproducing works by Picasso, original wrappers with the large pictorial label by Alexandra Exter. An important early treatise on Picasso and Cubism with Ekster`s striking cover design.
