ANTIQUE ENGRAVING DECLARATION AFTER JOHN TRUMBULL
An antique black and white engraving on paper, Declaration of Independence of The United States of America July 4th, 1774, 1823 after John Trumbull (1756-1843). Engraved by Asher B. Durand (1796-1886). Titled in the print lower to the center. Inscribed in the print lower right and left. John Trumbulls masterpiece, The Declaration of Independence of the United States of America, July 4th, 1776, was begun at Jeffersons residence in Paris. Jefferson contributed a firsthand description of the Assembly Room and made a rough sketch of it. Later, Trumbull painted Jefferson from life for the Declaration and made three miniatures of the likeness. The committee responsible for the draft John Adams, Roger Sherman, Robert R. Livingston, Jefferson, and Benjamin Franklin was depicted to the right of the center. graphic Art Prints and Collectibles.
