PAIR OF CHINESE BUDDHA HAND CARVED WOODEN STATUES
A pair of antique Chinese hand carved wooden sculptures. The first sculpture is made in the shape of a seated Confucian scholar. The small sculpture is made in the shape of seated Bodhisattva, in Buddhism a being with bodhichitta who has made the decision to become a Buddha for the benefit of all beings. The small piece is adorned with gold gilt and polychrome painting. He wears flowing robes with a floral necklace and has a meditation sash draped around his abdomen. His face exudes peacefulness.
