A mid-20th century barro negro art pottery vase by Dona Rosa. A rounded vase with a pronounced neck and stucco floral decoration. Signed Dona Rosa, S.B. Coyotepec, Oaxaca, Mexico on the backside. Dona Rosa, full name Rosa Real Mateo de Nieto, 1900 to 1980, was a Mexican ceramicist from Oaxaca, Mexico. She is credited with the invention of a technique for making black pottery, also known as barro negro, that has a distinctive black metallic like sheen.
