A rare mid-20th century barro negro art pottery votive candleholder or incense burner by Dona Rosa. A holder of globe shape with pierced ornamental decorartion. Signed Dona Rosa Coyotepec on the upper side. Dona Rosa, full name Rosa Real Mateo de Nieto, 1900 to 1980, was a Mexican ceramicist from Oaxaca, Mexico. She is credited with the invention of a technique for making black pottery, also known as barro negro, that has a distinctive black metallic like sheen.
