An antique German Royal Porcelain Factory in Berlin plaque depicting The Lion Hunt after the 1621 painting by Peter Paul Rubens, Flemish, 1577 to 1640, now held in the Alte Pinakothek in Munich. It shows two lions attacked by hunters on horseback and on foot. It marks the end of an intensive creative phase for Rubens centered on the theme of hunting. Painted and signed by A.L. Eckart of Dresden lower right. Holds the impressed KPM and scepter mark and letter H to the back. Matted and framed. Circa the late 19th century. Throughout the 19th century, KPM created new and fashionable designs while continuing to produce popular Baroque and Neoclassical pieces. By this time, the royally funded company was well known across Europe and collected by the social elite. Antique German Porcelain Plaques And Wall Decor Collectibles.
