An antique American Wood and Hughes Sterling Silver ladle. A gilt Silver bowl. A handle is adorned with engraved foliage and scrollwork motifs, and etched with a monogram. Marked with a W and H mark, a Sterling Silver mark, and a Pat. 1878, on the backside of the handle.The New York firm of Wood and Hughes, one of the finest and largest manufacturers of American silver, created numerous flatware patterns during the second half of the nineteenth century.
