ANTIQUE FRENCH BRONZE SCULPTURE BY FRANCOIS POMPON
Francois Pompon, French, 1855 to 1932, cast and patinated bronze sculpture, Pintade Guinea Fowl. Circa: 1920s. Mounted on a figural base. Signed, Pompon, on the base. Marked with a Hebrand foundry stamp, on the base. Francois Pompon was a French sculptor and animalier. Pompon made his Salon debut in 1879, exhibiting a statue of Victor Hugos Cosette from Les Miserables. He was a pioneer of modern stylized animalier sculpture.
