Vladimir Yegorovich Makovsky, Russian, 1846 to 1920, oil painting on cardboard depicting a portrait of an old man sitting in front of a window and sharpening a knife. Signed by the artist lower left and dated 1898. Additionally inscribed on the label mounted to a frame. Vladimir Makovsky was a Russian painter, art collector, and teacher.
