George Henry Laporte, American, 1799 to 1873, watercolor on paper painting depicting a horse rider. Signed lower left and dated 1869. Matted and framed. George Henry Laporte was an animal painter. He specialized in horses, mostly of the Arabian variety. His works depict scenes from hunting, racing and other sporting events, as well as animal still lifes.
