RUSSIAN MIXED MEDIA PAINTING BY MSTISLAV DOBUZHINSKI
Mstislav Dobuzhinski, Russian, Lithuanian, American, 1875 to 1957, mixed media, pencil and gouache, painting on paper mounted on board depicting a stage design for Hamlet, 1932. Signed with a monogram, lower right. Framed. Provenance: Estate Property Mstislav Valerianovich Dobujinsky. Inscribed on the backside. Mstislav Valerianovich Dobuzhinski or Dobujinsky was a Russian and Lithuanian artist noted for his cityscapes conveying the explosive growth and decay of the early twentieth century city. He is known for Theater design, expressionist painting. One of a kind artwork.
