ANTIQUE OIL ON CANVAS PAINTING AFTER GUERCINO
An antique oil on canvas painting depicting an episode from the Book of Genesis after the original 1657 painting Abraham Casting Out Hagar and Ishmael by Guercino or Giovanni Francesco Barbieri, Italian, 1591 to 1666. The original painting is now kept in the Pinacoteca di Brera in Milan. Giovanni Francesco Barbieri was an Italian Baroque painter and draftsman from Cento in the Emilia region, who was active in Rome and Bologna. The vigorous naturalism of his early manner contrasts with the classical equilibrium of his later works. His many drawings are noted for their luminosity and lively style. One of a kind artwork.
