ROMAN MARBLE HEAD OF GENERAL
Ca. AD 50 - 200 .A Roman marble head of an elderly man, possibly general. The facial features are well marked, with a fleshy mouth and spacious forehead marked by a few wrinkles realised in a naturalistic manner. The neck is muscular; the ears well defined and the hair is drawn in locks. These characteristics are typical of the veristic Roman portraiture preferred by the Flavians.
