The Gaon Rabbi Yisrael Freund was the son of the tzaddik Rabbi Avraham Yehoshua Freund of Nassod. Rabbi Yisrael served as rabbi in Radna, where his father also served, and in Honiad where his father-in-law served. He declined an appointment as admor but was
one of the prominent Chassidim of the Admor of Satmar, Rabbi Yoel Teitelboim. Rabbi Yisrael was niftar in 1942.
