FLORENTINE SCHOOL, HALF OF THE 17th CENTURY
Saint Agnes martyr
Oil on canvas, cm. 74x59,5. Framed
This remarkable canvas is clearly attributable to the Florentine figurative culture of the full seventeenth century. In its lyrical and theatrical intensity, the painting has, in particular, interesting affinities with single-figure paintings, of similar devotional destination, executed in the second half of the 17th century by Simone Pignoni and Baldassarre Franceschini known as Volterrano.
PROVENANCE: Private collection, Emilia Romagna.
