This copy is missing the first title page (illustrated) as well as from page 264 until the end. 31.5 cm. This edition, printed in 1698, was considered very holy by Chassidim, as this is the year in which the Baal Shem Tov, founder of the Chassidic movement, was born, and various traditions connect these two events. The Rebbe the Rayatz writes, ”… and in that year, the Light of all of Israel, our teacher the Baal Shem Tov, was born… he was born in the year that the Shelah Hakadosh was printed to illuminate the world with the light of Hashem in Torah and yiras Shamayim in service of the heart…” Sans binding. Book is falling apart. Extensive worming. Spotting and tears. Damaged copy.
