The first 52 pages of the book, 6¼" x 8" are devoted to Chemistry and Chemistry experiments and the rear 31 pages of the book are devoted to Higher Mathematics. All is written in a very legible hand by this young student, who later went on to become a prolific and eminent inventor. Awarded an O. B. E. in 1920. Amongst many other things, it is claimed he invented the electric kettle, many artillery pieces for the military and ships' navigation, etc. etc. A fascinating insight into the education of a mid-Victorian student, later to become notable in the scientific field.
