Tanzanites are ONLY mined in Tanzania.

  • Tanzanites became publicly available in jewelry only in the late 1960s, making it one of the "newest" gemstones.
  • Platinum is an extremely rare metal, occurring at a concentration of only 0.005 ppm in Earth's crust.
  • The lavaliere was named for the Duchesse de La Vallière, the mistress of Louis XIV in the 1660s.
