'Wild Hitler' - an anti-Nazi parody. London, early 1940s
Struwwelhitler, a Nazi Story Book by Doktor Schrecklichkeit By Robert and Philip Spence. Published by The Daily Sketch and Sunday Graphic, London, [c. 1941]. English.
A parody of the German children's book Struwwelpeter [Hebrew translation: "Wild Joshua"], mocking Hitler and senior Nazi party members, including Rudolf Hess, Herman Goering and Josef Goebbels, as well as Mussolini and Stalin. Colorful illustrations in which the character of Hitler replaces the character of "Struwwelpeter". The plot, in rhymes shows Hitler whose murderous desires know no bounds, who also sends animals to concentration camps, but his stupidity overthrows him time and time again. Goering appears in the derogatory phrase ‘fat Herman’, who tries to get rid of his fats so that he has a ‘place’ to put weapons, also mocks Goering who does not understand anything in aviation (Goering was the commander of the Luftwaffe - the German Air Force), and more.
24 pages, 18 cm. Good condition.
