THE JOKES ON HITLER. London, 1939 - First Edition

THE JOKES ON HITLER: UNDERGROUND WHISPERS FROM THE LAND OF THE CONCENTRATION CAMP, Collected by Count Alfred Hessenstein; Drawings by SPITZ - First Edition. London, 1939. One of the most outspoken and brave publications against the Nazi regime at the height of its power. Rare.

A book of jokes mocking Hitler and the leaders of the Nazi Party. In the introduction, the editor writes that he considers it appropriate to bring the jokes told about Hitler in different places in one place in order to allay the fear that the Nazi Party is trying to dominate everywhere. The book contains a lot of brave jokes about the Nazi racial theory, the attitude of the Nazis to the Jews, the heads of the Nazi regime, jokes mocking the Nazi leader, jokes about the burning of the German Reichstag, jokes mocking the Nazi propaganda method which was characterized by repeating lies over and over again, jokes mocking Goebbels whose voice was so loud regularly from German radio, mocking Hermann Goering's lack of knowledge, jokes about the swastika symbol, jokes about Nazi thinkers, the Nazi party's street ceremonies, what Hitler's death day would look like, and more.

The design of the cover: a swastika in the center, on the right of which are seen Hitler, Goebbels (drawn with the face of a monkey), and Goering, and on the left below whispering Jews.
