The House on the Cliff - Franklin Dixon. New York, 1927 - First edition, second printing

The House on the Cliff, by Franklin W. Dixon, published by Grosset & Dunlap Publishers New York - 1927. First edition, second printing - original dust jacket. Illustrations by Walter S. Rogers. A fine copy.

This is a mystery story about Frank and Joe Hardy who experience a series of mysterious events happening in an old house on a cliff. It is the second book in the original The Hardy Boys Mystery Stories series, and upon its release it achieved unprecedented success among young readers in the United States. The book ranks No. 72 on Publishers Weekly's list of all-time best-selling children's books in the United States with 1,712,433 copies sold as of 2001. It is interesting to note that the 1927 U.S. copyright on this book expired on January 1, 2023, putting the 1927 version into the public domain in the U.S. In this second printing, the publisher designed the dust jacket in a more colorful and varied way than the first printing.

IV, 212 p. 19 cm. Hard cover with original dust jacket. Tears in dust jacket at spine area. Good condition.
