The Hell of Treblinka - of the first testimonies published about the horrors of the camp

Die Hölle von Treblinka - The Hell of Treblinka - One of the first eyewitness accounts published about what occurred at the Treblinka death camp, by Wassilij Grossmann, published by Verlag für fremdsprachige Literatur. Moscow 1946. German.

One of the first eyewitness survivors to expose the scale of horrors that occurred at the Treblinka death camp to the world shortly after the war. Grossman, a Soviet war correspondent, visited Treblinka shortly after its liberation in 1944. He interviewed survivors who had recently been between life and death, witnessed the mass graves himself and gathered testimonies from every corner about the camp's atrocities. A harrowing, detailed and uncensored description of Treblinka's horrors as heard from the prisoners themselves and early evidence collection at the camp. Grossman describes how the camp was established, the daily sadistic abuse, how its different sections were run, mass killings, and especially the "method" - the precisely and well-planned manner from highest ranks of what the Nazis inflicted on camp prisoners, names of murderers, fates of victims, and more. The book was translated into many languages. Drafts of the original Russian language book served as evidence in the Nuremberg war crimes trials.
