FIRST and only edition of this very rare work written by Fr. Miguel Pacheco, born in Coimbra, friar of the Military Order of Christ, Attorney General of the Order and Provider and Administrator of the hospital of Santo António dos Portugueses in Madrid, where he died in 1668. appreciation for the judgment, clarity of style and good order with which its author wrote it”. The work is a biography of Infanta D. Maria (1521-1577), a very interesting figure of Portuguese culture, it is divided into 20 chapters, transcribing some important documents such as praises to the Princess, coming from the most varied personalities and, mainly, legal documents concerning the his coveted fortune such as the marriage treaty between D. Manuel and D. Leonor, Claim of Right over the Infanta's dowry, Opinion of the Council sent to Portugal on what belongs to the Infanta D. Maria, Infanta's testament, etc. The book is composed of various Roman and Italic typefaces, in various sizes, beautifully illustrated with wood-engraved finials at the end of some chapters.
