Luís Marinho de Azevedo (?-1652), a soldier born in Lisbon, was an army captain, military commissioner and secretary to the Count of S. Lourenço in the campaigns that followed the acclamation of D. João IV. He wrote many reports of battles fought at that time in the province of Alentejo, some military ordinances, an apology from the governor of India, Fernão de Albuquerque, some works in Castilian and the present history of the city of Lisbon. According to Inocêncio, Luís Marinho de Azevedo was also one of the editors of the first gazettes that were published in 1640. This first edition is VERY RARE, having been reissued in 1753.
