Rare edition of this collection of treatises on fortification and sieges, first published in 1730. The first part, authored by Charles Goulon, an official disciple of the Marquis of Vauban, and considered one of the main authorities of the time on the subject, seeks defend the thesis that attack and defense are closely linked and cannot be treated separately. In the remaining treatises inserted in this publication, there are two by the Marquis of Vauban, one of them, on the siege of Ath (1697), is considered one of the most important sources for the subject. Rare.
