PAUL TIBBETS ENOLA GAY FDC
(1915-2007) American Bomber Pilot who flew the B-29 Superfortress known as the Enola Gay when it dropped Little Boy, the first of two atomic bombs used in warfare, on the Japanese city of Hiroshima. Signed FDC Alamogordo, New Mexico, August 6, 1995, on the 50th anniversary of the Hiroshima bombing. The envelope is original from 1945, franked with two commemorative stamps, and the 1945 3 cent Iwo Jima stamp. Signed by Tibbets in blue ink 'Paul Tibbets, Pilot', very good.
