OLIVIA DE HAVILLAND
(1916-2020) British-American actress. One of her best-known roles is that of Melanie Hamilton in Gone with the Wind, for which she received her first of five Oscar nominations. TLS on her blue letter paper, one page, Paris, France, 6 x 8.75 in., responding to an admirer 'It is with great regret that I return to you, unopened, your envelope....another primary obligation keeps me from responding...the writing of my biography...I know you will understand...', signed at conclusion in blue ink. Small strip of clear tape at top center, else fine.
