An unusually stamped airmail envelope with dozens of Iranian stamps from the era of the Persian Shah, bearing numerous official postmarks from Tehran alongside Iraqi, Iranian and international censorship and censorship overprints in English, Arabic and Russian, sent to the Anglo-Palestine Bank branch in Tel Aviv, Palestine, during the British Mandate in 1933
Front:
At the top is an official airmail seal ("AIR MAIL"), indicating that the envelope was sent via an international air route. A variety of Iranian stamps of various denominations (3R, 1R, 50D) are affixed to the front of the envelope. The stamps are printed in Persian with the inscription "Iran", and feature a portrait of an Iranian ruler from the period. The stamps are stamped with official postmarks, a large rectangular Arabic censorship or audit stamp ("الرقابة العراقية" - Iraqi Supervision), with the English inscription "NOT EXAMINED". On the right side of the front there is a vertical red printed stripe with the inscription "OPENED BY", indicating that despite the "NOT EXAMINED" seal, the envelope was probably opened and examined in some way.
Reverse side:
The reverse side of the envelope is completely covered with additional Iranian stamps of higher denominations. These stamps are stamped with numerous black, round, official Tehran Postal Service ink seals. In addition, there are additional audit and censorship seals including a printed overprint with the word "CENSOR" in English and Russian ("Цензура"), alongside a large red official audit stamp with Arabic inscription, indicating that the envelope has undergone a rigorous examination process by international censors
