TORAH SCROLL FRAGMENT MANUSCRIPT ON VELLUM ANTIQUE GENESIS 49:8 - 50:20

Size 12 x 18"

GENESIS 49:8 - 50:24

Genesis 49:8–12

contains Jacob's blessings and predictions about his fourth son, Judah. In part, this is a Messianic prophecy. The nation of Israel (Genesis 35:10–11) will eventually be ruled by descendants of the tribe of Judah. Ultimately, this will include the earthly reign of the Promised One, Jesus Christ.

Genesis 49:24

More specifically, God would protect and deliver Joseph's people. The metaphor used in both verses evokes a shootout between archers. Jacob describes a severe and bitter attack of arrows shot at Joseph. Instead of being hit, or running and hiding, Jacob describes Joseph's bow as remaining steady and strong.

Genesis 49-50

God Meant It For Good. It is the end of Jacob's life. Genesis 49 records the blessings that Jacob gives upon his twelve sons. Verse 28 declares that Jacob blessed his sons “blessing each with the blessing suitable to him.” His final command was to be buried in the cave of Machpelah in the land of Canaan.
