CATHERINE DE´MEDICI: (1519-1589) Queen consort of France 1547-59, as spouse of King Henry II. Catherine de Medici saw during her life time three of her sons becoming Kings of France, Francis II, Charles IX and Henry III. Very rare A.L.S., `Your good Sister & mother Catherine´, one page, square 4to, Agen, 16th March 1568, to `The Catholic Queen, Madame my daughter´, in old French. An unusual full autograph letter by the Queen, in her often very difficult writing, referring to an envoy travelling to visit `the infantas, my grand-daughters, to know about them..´ and on her behalf to `.. in the same way, in that country, I have ordered him to visit Your Majesty on my behalf and bring me back the good news..´ further also saying `.. I wish the best response and have instructed to forward mine to you..´ Very small overall minor age wear, with edges professionally repaired and a 12mo page addressee affixed to the verso, About VG Elisabeth of Valois (1545-1568) Spanish Queen consort as the third spouse of Philip II of Spain. Eldest daughter of Henry II of France and Catherine de´Medici. Her two daughters refers to in the present letter were Isabella (1566-1633) and Catherine (1567-1597)
