SCHIPPERS THOMAS: (1930-1977) American Conductor. Schippers conducted in all major Opera Houses in Europe and U.S, most notably at La Scala and the Metropolitan Opera House where he made his debut at the age of twenty-five. Highly regarded for his work and his dramatic approach to Italian opera. Schippers died at the early age of 47. Rare 4 x 6 photograph by Schippers, the image depicting the well-remembered conductor standing in a half length pose, conducting during a rehearsal. Signed in bold blue ink to the lower white border of the image. VG
