Manuscript - 23[!] Notebooks - Copying of Glosses by the Author of Shemen Rokeach on the Entire Talmud - A large Part has Never been Printed!
23 notebooks, handwritten copying of glosses by Rabbi Elazar Lev author of Shemen Rokeach on the entire Talmud. Done in the early 1940's.
These glosses by Rabbi Elazar lev, author of Shemen Rokeach, which were written on his copies of the Talmud [Wein printing press 1810]. Rabbi Yitzchak Mintz of Berlin [a descendent of the author] ordered that they be copied in these notebooks during the early 1940's.
According to our research, these glosses have never been printed, except for a limited edition that was printed in 2012 [on the occasion of the Bar Mitzvah of Yitzchak Feldman of Modi'in], section A only which contains Seder Zera'im-Seder Nashim, and which does not appear in digital collections.
Rabbi Elazar Lev (1758-1839; Otzar ha'Rabbanim no. 2919; Ishsim Be'Tshuvot Ha'Chatam Sofer, pp. 74) was a well-known genius in the time of the Chatam Sofer and Rabbi Akiva Eiger. Served as a rabbi in many towns of Poland. Authored many compositions and became known for his "Shemen Rokeach". The Maharam Bennet, writing about one of his books, wrote: "This book was not written by someone born of a woman rather by an angel of heaven…"
