P. T. BARNUM’S JEWISH LILIPUTIAN.
Discovered and exhibited by P. T. Barnum, Admiral Dot was an Orthodox Jew named Leopold S. Kahn who hailed from San Francisco. Leopold was more diminutive than Tom Thumb who received great publicity during the Civil War. Leopold married a fellow dwarf who converted to Judaism. He resided in White Plains, New York where he owned a hotel and was a volunteer firefighter. Along with a daughter, Leopold died in the influenza pandemic of 1918.
