This appealing Condition Census quality 1799 BB-155 dollar is also a rare die pairing Both dies were used to strike other 1799 dollar varieties. The obverse die was first used to strike the similarly rare 1799 B-18, BB-154 die marriage, then cracked heavily through the first three stars when combined for this die pairing later. For the reverse it was first employed here on the B-19, BB-155 die marriage then the reverse went on to strike the 1799/8 B-2, BB-143 coins For variety specialist this is one of the four scarcest of the 1799 die varieties to find, especially in high grades. A memorable coin and important offering.
