Bridge leading over the Mulde in a hilly landscape under an almost cloudless sky, watercolour, signed lower left "Hans Weiß Aue", inscribed, titled and dated on the reverse of the mount "Hans Weiß-Aue "Alte Holzbrücke an der Mulde" Aquarell - ca. 1945-48", mounted under mount (this with losses), mount cut-out ca. 40.5 x 35 cm. Artist's info: originally Hans Weiß, German painter and graphic artist (1914 Aue to 1984 Aue), to distinguish himself from other artists of the same name he also called himself Hans Weiß-Aue, from 1929 to 1933 training as pattern draughtsman at the State Drawing School for Textile Industry in Schneeberg, later lecturer and director there, work as pattern draughtsman in Falkenstein/Vogtl, later worked in Zwickau, Leipzig and Chemnitz, from 1945 freelance painter in Aue and teacher of art education at the adult education centre in Aue and at the vocational school in Zwickau, 1951 moved to Schneeberg, in 1945 one of the organisers of the art exhibition Befreite Kunst (Liberated Art) in Aue and in November 1945 founding member of the local group of the Kulturbund, Member of the Association of Fine Artists of the GDR, from 1973 together with other local artists such as Kurt Teubner, Ernst Hecker or Helmut Humann use of an exhibition pavilion Bildende Kunst at the Altmarkt, where he also offered his watercolours and woodcuts for sale, his works can be seen in Schlettau Castle in the collection Erzgebirgische Landschaftskunst, source: Wikipedia.
