Abraham stretched out his hand and took the knife to slaughter his son. Then the angel of the Lord called to him from heaven and said: Abraham, Abraham! ... Do not stretch out your hand against the boy and do him no harm! For now I know that you fear God; you have not withheld your son, your only son, from me. Abraham lifted up his eyes and looked, and behold, a ram had caught its horns in the bushes behind him.
