On the title page, a dedication: לה"ו זה ספר של הרב מהר"י אלחאייך. Rabbi Yaakov was a Dayan of the Grana community - a community of exiles from Spain who moved from Livorno to Tunisia, and one Rashei Yeshiva of the Etz Chaim Yeshiva of Grana. Authored two Pinkasim of the Grana community.

On the title page, an impressive illustration of Yaakov Avinu coming to Egypt and uniting with his son Yosef on the backdrop of an eagle, pillars and angels.
The author was the grandson of Rabbi Yosef de Segovia Benvanisti, author of Dovev Siftei Yeshenim. Immigrated to Jerusalem and then returned to Turkey and was a Rosh Yeshiva of a Yeshiva in Izmir. Was one of the first to fight the Sabbatean Movement. In 1670, returned to Jerusalem and in 1673 was appointed Av Beit Din of Jerusalem.
