CONVOLUTE OF HISTORICAL CITTERN AND NEAPOLITAN MANDOLIN
Set of two historical plucked instruments consisting of a cittern and a Neapolitan mandolin. Both instruments are around 100 years old, most probably in their original condition and show various signs of age and use.
The cittern with originally 8 strings has a pear-shaped corpus. The pegs resemble the modern system for guitars.
Dimensions: Total length: 59.5cm, body length: 30cm, width: 25.5cm, rib height: 7cm.
The Neapolitan mandolin is decorated with elegant inlays in the shape of butterflies on the top. The back is bulbous, inspired by lute making. The tuning pegs are made of bone. Two strings are missing.
Dimensions: Total length: 60.5cm, body length: 31cm, width: 20cm, height: 15.5cm.
