Official postcard handwritten and signed by Rabbi Eliyahu Meir Feivelsohn, Rabbi of Kupisok (Kupiškis), Lithuania. Kupiškis, 1927

Postcard bearing the official logo of Rabbi Eliyahu Meir Feivelsohn—blessings handwritten by him to a bride and groom on their wedding day: “May Hashem bless the bride and groom on their wedding day … a life of love of Torah and yirat shamayim, life in which their hearts desires are fulfilled for good.” Kupiškis, 1927.

Interesting inscription on the side of the postcard, in which the rabbi writes that it is not his custom to send telegrams of blessings but rather to use his own handwriting, “that is the way I write my blessings, and not to use angels of the wind”.

9x14cm. Light creases, good condition.

Rabbi Eliyahu Meir Feivelsohn (1868-1928) founded the youth yeshiva in Ponevezh and led it until he moved to serve in the rabbinate of Kupiskis. He was the spirit behind many yeshivot across Lithuania and his handiwork is responsible for much of its foundation. He was well known as a huge gaon in psak halacha, and after WWI Rabbi Chaim Ozer appointed him to lead the beit din for agunot issues. His hashkafic work “Netzach Yisrael” served as a foundational book for the Agudas Yisrael movement and for thousands of young people between the two world wars.
