On verso of the title page, a handwritten dedication by the author: "... יוסף סלאמה הי"ו, ממני המחבר [author's stamp]".

The author, the Kabbalist Rabbi Chaviv Chaim David Sethon (known as the Chad in his generation; 1827-1907), one of the leading rabbis of Tiberius. His father married his brother’s wife (Yibum) but passed away while she was still pregnant, so Rabbi Sethon bore his father’s name (David), and his uncle (Chaviv), the name Chaim added as a segulah. He would isolate himself and study in Elijah’s cave and at the grave of Rabbi Meir Ba’al HaNes, and he focused on Kabbalah. He was the Rosh Yeshiva of Eliyahu HaNavi yeshiva in Haifa. Authored the books: Tokpo shel Nes, and Shemesh UMagen.
