В целом хорошее состояние. Отсутствует суперобложка. Края и углы переплета сильно побиты. Трещина в блоке. Блок немного скошен. Ржавые скобы. Страница 11-12 и вклейка частично отходят от блока. Бумага на вклейках слегка покороблена. Встречаются загрязнения на вклейках.
Прижизненное издание. Книга представляет собой сборник эссе о художниках-современниках автора. Эфрос приглашает читателя пройти вместе с ним по воображаемой выставке работ Серова, Сурикова, Остроухова, Бенуа, Юона, Кузнецова, Сапунова, Фаворского, Шагала, Чехонина, Розановой, Нарбута, Альтмана и Штернберга.
