הגאון הצדיק רבי יוסף אלימלך כהנא זצ״ל (תרכ"ו-תש"ד) מגדולי מרביצי התורה ותופסי הישיבה באונגארן בדור שלפני המלחמה, נתגדל על ברכי זקינו הגאון רבי יצחק אייזיק ביליצער בעל 'באר יצחק', והיה תלמידו המובהק של הגאון המפורסם רבי חיים צבי מאנהיימער אב"ד אונגוואר בעל עין הבדולח (מגדולי תלמידי החתם סופר). וכן למד אצל הגאון בעל 'שבט סופר' בפרעשבורג. בגיל שבע עשרה נסמך להוראה מהגאון רבי שלמה גאנצפריעד ראב"ד אונגוואר בעל קיצור שלחן ערוך. משנת תרצ"א אב"ד אונגוואר.
רבי משה נתן נטע הלוי יונגרייז ב"ר שמואל חיים מוואמאש-מיקאלא [חתן רבי אהרן שמואל אסאד אב"ד סערדאהעל]. חתנו של רבי יוסף אלימלך כהנא אב"ד אונגוואר. אב"ד הערנאד – זשאדאני. תלמיד ה"דעת סופר", ונכד רבי משה נתן נטע הלוי יונגרייז אב"ד טיסא-פירעד. נהרג עקדה"ש סיון תש"ד.
