Butrova Maria Nikolaevna (1905-1989).

Graphic artist, painter, muralist. She studied in Petrograd - Leningrad: at the Higher Courses of Decorative and Applied Arts (1918-1920), State Free Artistic and Educational Workshops - Vkhutemas - Vhuteine ​​(1922-1927) under V.V. Lebedev, V.A. Petrova-Vodkina.

Collaborated in the satirical magazines "Chizh" and "Hedgehog", "Murzilka". In the 1930s she worked in a textile painting workshop under the direction of V.V. Lebedev. From 1936 she worked in the experimental lithographic workshop of the Leningrad Union of Artists.

She was engaged in book graphics. Collaborated in publishing houses in Moscow and Leningrad - Detgiz, Uchpedgiz, Lenizdat and others. She designed the books: Games (1930, picture book), Trickle by MA Pozharova (1947), Songs by MA Poznanskaya (1948, 1950), Gate to the Garden by E. Ya. Tarakhovsky (1949), the fairy tale "Golden Apple" (1949), "Flag" by A. G. Aleksin and S. A. Baruzdin (1950), "All year round - a calendar for children for 1955" (1954), "Greedy Shurochka" K.P. Ryazanov (1963); made illustrations for textbooks for the peoples of the North (1951-1952).
