Solomon Moiseevich Gershov (1906-1989).
From 1922 he lived and studied in Petrograd, at the School of the Society for the Encouragement of Artists (before the revolution known as the Imperial Art School). Studied with P. Filonov (1925-27), then with Konstantin Malevich. In 1930, his first personal exhibition was held in Leningrad. In the 1930s and in 1948 he was convicted. In 1956 he was rehabilitated. He worked in Windows TASS and in theaters. In 1965, the first exhibition abroad took place.
Works are kept in the Art Museums of London, Paris, New York, Jerusalem, Zurich, the Tretyakov Gallery in Moscow, the Russian Museum in St. Petersburg, the Center. Mark Rothko (Daugavpils), as well as in the Vitebsk Regional Museum of Local Lore.
