Graduated from the Institute of Fine Arts named after I.E. Repin (1950) in the workshop of B.V. Ioganson.
People's Artist of the USSR (1985). Academician of the USSR Academy of Arts (1988). One of the greatest masters of Leningrad landscape painting of the second half of the 20th century. Works are in the collections of the State Tretyakov Gallery, the State Russian Museum, in museums and private collections around the world.
