From the bookstore and library of Andreas Isler, St. Petersburg, Nevsky, 20. Swiss citizen and bookseller Andreas Isler is known for founding and leading the St. Petersburg library society "Svetoch" (St. Petersburger Bibliotheksverein "Die Leuchte"). The society held cultural and educational events, various discussions took place there, and lectures were organized. Before the First World War, ethnic Germans made up about 5% of the population of St. Petersburg, after the revolution 1%.
