Monumental Rookwood 17" Glazed Pottery Vase. Very Heavy football shaped with 4 equidistant loop handle at top. Glaze is identified as catawba theoretically introduced in the teens, this porcelain vase is dated 1917, shape 2371. references indicate the earliest known example of the glaze 1921. making this now the earliest known example oof the catawba-glaze pieces interior is glazed with "Chinese Turquoise" glaze.
